An unenviable job to rebuild Thailand's credibility
He is smart, suave, even posh, as a leader. At the same time, he is perceived as
being bland and inexperienced as a politician. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the
Democrat party, is Thailand's 27th prime minister at a time when Thailand seems
to have slipped further into a political coma.
There will be no honeymoon period for the new prime minister. Restoring
confidence in the economy, stamping his authority on the fragile coalition, and
healing the deeply divided Thai society will be Mr Abhisit's burning issues.

PM's text message an 'invasion of privacy'
The Foundation for Consumers has criticised the ruling Democrat party for
sending SMS messages to people asking them to help the new government restore
the country.
Foundation secretary-general Saree Aongsomwang said messages sent to mobile
phone users without their consent could be seen as an invasion of their privacy.

RETROSPECTIVE EXHIBITION ENCAPSULATES THE DEVELOPMENT OF THAI ART OVER THE
LAST 50 YEARS
Way to
Wisdom
The direction of modern art in Thailand since World War Two has been
substantially influenced by only a handful of select individuals and
organisations. Ranking highly among this small but significant band is the Thai
Fulbright Association, which has supported the education of numerous important
artists since its inception in 1950, five of whom have gathered to exhibit a
selection of their works.
